Keagan is an associate at Augustine Bater Binks LLP practicing family and employment law.
While in law school, Keagan worked at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic, where she gained valuable experience guiding her clients through high conflict, emotional situations. Keagan brings this experience to her family and employment law practice. Keagan is passionate about these specific areas of law as each has an inherently human element. When her clients are at their most vulnerable and in need of expert assistance, Keagan uses her practice to obtain meaningful results.
Keagan’s family law practice covers a variety of issues, including divorce, property division, child decision-making and parenting time, child support, and spousal support. She regularly represents clients before the Superior Court of Justice and in alternative dispute resolution processes. She is also available to prepare cohabitation agreements, marriage contracts, and separation agreements.
In her employment practice, Keagan provides legal advice to both employees and employers in all aspects of employment law, including drafting and negotiating employment contracts, severance pay and packages, wrongful dismissals, constructive dismissals, harassment, human rights applications, and other workplace issues and disputes.
Keagan is also happy to prepare wills and Powers of Attorney.
Keagan currently sits on the executive of the Ontario Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division – East and is a proud member of LEAF (Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund), for which she served as Events Coordinator of the Ottawa Chapter while in law school. Outside of her legal practice, Keagan is passionate about weight lifting, traveling, and exploring the local food scene.
