Emily joined Augustine Bater Binks LLP after completing her Articles of Clerkship with a large national firm in Ottawa. Emily graduated with a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Ottawa in 2012 and prior to that, obtained a Combined Honours degree in Legal Studies and Human Rights from Carleton University in 2009. Emily was called to the Bar in 2013.
While attending the University of Ottawa, Emily was actively involved in the school and Ottawa community at large. Emily was a teaching assistant for first year law students in Property Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution and was also involved in various pro bono community projects, including representing individuals before the Ontario Health Professionals Appeal and Review Board. During her articles, Emily gained significant experience working in the areas of civil and commercial litigation. In particular, she gained a great deal of experience working on insurance disputes, construction litigation and professional liability/negligence issues.
Emily enjoys building a relationship with her clients and works hard to develop effective and efficient solutions for each legal issue she is presented with. Her main areas of practice include family law, estate litigation, and general civil litigation, with a particular focus on construction, motor vehicle accident and personal injury litigation.
Outside of the practice of law, Emily enjoys spending time with her friends and family, attending spin classes, cooking and when time permits, checking out all the cool sites the world has to offer.
